1 year old GP-100 - cracked forcing cone

The frame also looks stretched and deformed around the barrel threads at the barrel throat.
Seems to be a small gap between outside of threads and the frame.
A LOT of pressure would be required to deform the frame in that location.
Flame cutting is not uncommon, however, severe flame cutting serves to further weaken the frame.
All of these symptoms appeared in the .357 Maximum.

The other picture has a broken link...

When did this problem begin ?
QUOTE=GCedrik;16406287]Hi guys,

I thought you may be interested in seeing this - here are pictures of my 1 year old (purchased brand new), 3,000 round count GP-100 with a forcing cone that's heavily eroded and cracked in three places.

It shot a mix of 38 SPL and 357 Mag, always 158 gr, always conservative loads.

Have any of you ever seen this?

If so, what are your thoughts?

Flame cutting on the top strap is normal, unless it doesn't stop. I don't think I have owned a revolver that didn't get it at least a little.

That’s great to hear.
I wonder how long that replacement warranty would go back? For example, what if the firearms was 2 or even 4 years old? Honestly, it should never happen so I’d like to think they would be good for it forever. But that’s pushing it I’m sure.

At this point thought I might just go ahead and sell it if I can have a good price for it since my 627-5 can handle both 38 spl and 357 mag. I've been eyeing the 460 XVR for a while. It may take up to 3 months to receive it.

I've had Ruger repairs under warranty 5 years after the purchase

you're kidding right?
who would buy that?

That's actually exactly what happened. I rented the 460V as a joke and actually really enjoyed it. With the muzzle brake it really isn't that bad. Also, you get a gun that can handle 3 cartridges - 454 Casull, 460 Magnum and 45 Long Colt. I'm not sure yet but it's been on my mind. Either that or a 629 PC hunter.

I have both the 460 V and the gp100 and I would part with the S&W first IF I had to. No.....it isn't for sale yet! PM me if you are looking for a Ruger DA in .44 though, I have 2 and have to let one go.
