10,000 Enfields!

Canada has to import from now till eternity. All our government owed Lee Enfields have been destroyed. Many of the Ranger/cadet ones left are purchased from Britain. One steel mill just smelted 80,000 FNC1's lately too.
These plus tens of thousands of a few other arms I could mention here. All gone. Unfortunately true.

Sorry to dredge this one up one more time, it just struck me that if the Italians had this many Lee-Enfields, did they have AMMO to go with them???? That would be very nice.

Has anyone told the Canadian forces about this?

I heard a while back that there were short on these Rifles for their Rangers.

Nope, 1000's in stores.

If so, why are they buying odds and ends of No4s?

Everything thing in Longue Pointe Ordnance Depot without a Nato stock number was turfed a few years back I heard. Of course No4 parts are supposed to have NS numbers, but I'll bet all the packages the stuff was in didn't and they couldn't be bothered to figure it out and label them. That and the guys who surplus stuff in any government operation don't give a damn whether it's needed or not, they just want to sell as much as they can and generate as much revenue for their little branch as possible. And the guys in acquisitions want to justify spending as much as they can too, so would be glad to see the old stuff thrown out so they can fuss around ordering more and getting some ..... from the contractors.

I dunno, the ones in the pics were minty unissued beauties, still with LB hangtags. Check out their site-it's heartbreaking to know I can't have one of those...

I don't want to see your heart broken, so if you want to send me $900 I'll order you a non-matching No.4 in 'Used-Good' Condition. Or $400 for the bottom of the bin "heavily used" grade they are selling now. ($ upfront please, no inspection or returns!)

...or go to the EE and buy an Enfield at Canadian prices, maybe $300 tops, condition known and likely better, or $500 for a NEW unfired one).

It's been said many times in this thread why no dealers ordered them.

Currently available are Mosins and RC Mausers, which we've been seeing on the market at reasonable prices. The prices for the Enfields might be ok to high for collectors in a wealthy European country where they were never commonly available, but for Canada, where Enfields are everywhere, the price as offered were totally non-viable.

Christ, never knew Italy even had a Navy. Anyway, wouldnt be hard to find waaayy nicer Enfields at a decent gunshow here in Canada. Still lots of good, original, matching pieces around, just gotta look for them. Notice they say that all bolts were seperated from rifles in storage. Last weekend I saw a mint, mint RCAF marked 1943 LB change hands for $500.

That was 10 years ago and at that time you could pick up one of the Belgian Long Branches for $125.00 at most Gunshows. 5 years ago I was selling nice Long Branches and Pakistani No.4 MK2 for $350.00. Prices here have finally caught up to EuroArms listing (factoring in Shipping and Duty & Customs Fees).
