Hello All, Well simple question i hope some of you can answer. im realtively new to pistol shooting yet, im told and through reading alot of the posts here, that 10-15 yrd practicing is the way to go (and im not bad at these distances) But All Edmonton ranges only start out at 25yrd So My question is twofold, does anyone know if in the Edmonton area we have a range with shorter pistol ranges, if not , How did you deal with it when teaching others (if you have) , Bring your own targets? I was thinking of bringing something i could stake in at 15 yrds, I really wanna get out and practice, but so far ive just been taking my luck and hoping no one else was on the pistol range

You could make your targets 66% bigger. Also, thicker glasses, or even bigger bullets would help scew the results more favorably. Or really, really, really (10 yards+) long barrels on your guns.

Seriously, all indoor ranges should be able to accomodate much shorter distances than that (Wild West in the West Edmonton Mall, for example). And honestly, couldn't some of these range officers and attendants allow you to leave a target stand a little closer than 25 yards?!?

Thanks RePete. WILD WEST can accomadate, but i was speaking in regards to outdoor ranges, i cant afford to shoot at all if i have to pay a 150% markup on range ammo,

I would love to get a target stand if possible, I checked crappy tire, no luck, anyone know in the edmonton area where i can source a target stand? i assuem this is the best possible solution.

If you're at an outdoor range and no one else is there, you can just walk out on the range and have at'er. Just make sure you're in plain view so anyone else walking in will see you

RePete,

Where are you sourcing your B27 targets?
Backcountry sports in Red deer has started stocking nice police pistol
Full size and also plain black silouette B27 printed by cleanbore, and also the
police pistol bandit same size ,B60 . for a buck a piece .
I bought a bunch and only used one today as i patch her up after every magazine.

"...ranges only start out at 25yrd..." That's because formal target shooting is done at that distance. However, you should be able to hang a target closer, if the range allows it. String and thumbtacks works depending on the ceiling.

In regards to Targets.... what i do is find sights that have pictured of them, save the Picture and print them off yourself ! Even if you have to go to a print shop to get it done, it will be ALOT cheaper :) . Maybe the ones your looking for are different then what im thinking, but if your not picky, there's tons and tons of target examples on the Net, you can print them on 8x11 paper or go big and print them on 11x17 pieces of paper. I have everything from Zombie head targets to Simulated Human silhouettes with point system to targets that feature the Bad guy with a Hostage. Lots of cool tragets to be had for free if you can print them off yourself.

Cheers :)

A B27 won't fit on an 81/2 x 11 piece of paper...;)
