Have a 10/22 heavy barrel laminate wood stock I got in an auction about 10 years ago ($300!!!), mfg. date was in the 80s best I can recall - new in box, never fired, Added a Harris bipod and Tasco scope (9x I think) It can ring a 3" gong at 100 yards without missing .. (CCI Mini Mags)

Pretty much stock, standard and straight forward but.... some things really bug me about it that I want to improve. Let me be clear, accuracy is absolutely fine - not really looking to tinker with that, being said:

1. Scope, just a cross hair is a pain when using different ammo. I'll sort that out on my own, ignore the entry level scope.
2. Magazine release ... Arrgh! it sucks.
3. Charging "handle" painfully bad.

So, the charging handle, so far the only way I have seen to address this is by replacing the bolt - with a very expensive aftermarket bolt. Is this true? Are there any other options?

Now the adjustable trigger is related to the magazine release, I see that Timney has a trigger pack with an integral magazine release as does Kidd (with the release being a separate part) however, neither seem to advertise as being adjustable for weight, just creep and over travel.
I'm not above spending the $400ish for a slightly improved trigger if it also addresses the mag release but I would want it to be adjustable - are there any (adjustable) options?

Like I say - accuracy is more than fine - I'm trying to find ergonomic options here :)

Most of the moving parts are in the trigger group, including the trigger itself, the magazine release, and the bolt holdback. Sometimes an extended magazine release handle is an optional extra because personal preferences and/or desire to do fast magazine changes. And replacing the whole trigger group with a premium unit (Kidd, Timney) is a popular upgrade, although there are individual wee upgrade parts to improve a factory trigger group too.

The bolt should just go back and forward. If it's rough it may need some smoothing. I've never run into one that had a nasty charging handle that made it an issue to pull back. It's part of the classic 10/22 dance together with the holdback down in the trigger group, but frustration there is generally blamed on the factory holdback not the bolt. Spectre/Magdump sells a nice bolt.

You DO NOT need to replace the Bolt in order to change the Charging Handle. After market Charging handles work great with the factory Ruger Bolt.
You DO NOT need to replace the trigger assembly to change the Magazine Release. After market Mag Release work we'll with the factory Ruger Trigger assembly.
RUGER BX Triggers have a easily manipulated Mag Release and offer a improved trigger pull . 2 pins to change.

A after market modified bolt release is also a frequent modification.
