10/22 Aluminum Barrel where to get?

If you are just looking to save weight and gain accuracy why not try a 12.5 bull or factory contour steel one from Dlask. I only see about 40-50fps loss between the 12.5 and a 16 and I find my gun balances really nicely with the 12.5 bull.

i will just get a remailer in the usa to do it if it comes down to that- but ITAR has zero restrictions on accessories.

I don't think the US state Dept. will agree with you... the paperwork isn't that bad, and will save you (and the seller/mailer) a whole lot of potential problems...

This been said, I'd love to find a lightweight barrel in "Charger" length...

Wanstall's is bringing in the lightweight aluminum TacSol 10/22 barrels. They are still at least a few weeks away but he is taking names if you want one give them a call and Gary will call you when they come in. They have a few different colors coming in too.

Here is the threat:

The manufacturer also has to have an export permit, not just the exporter....

Some small manufacturers don't bother to get an export Licence because their foreign sales don't always justify the $2,700+ annual expense of the Licence.

Also, when the State Department inspects sales records, they look at where payment is coming from and where the item was shipped. If a foreign CC was used, or if an item is shipped to a known remailer or border warehouse, they assume that part will be leaving the US, and the seller get in trouble anyway. THAT is why there is a huge fear for US sellers to have anything that even resembles a foreign transaction.

Check with Gary from Wantstalls, he's sponsor and I bought a tacsol from him before christmas (just waiting for it to ship!). Not sure if he has any left or not.

edit: oops, didn't see juancarlos' post.
