I have a stock 10/22 (standard) and was wondering if I install see-thru scope mounts on the stock rail will I still be able to align the iron sights? The rear sight is a folding leaf and it sure looks as if the rail will block the sight picture. Anybody done this before I get going on something that won't work?

10/22 see throughs

I used the cheap Weaver ($16.00) see throughs on the stock rail and yes you can line up the stock sights but there is no extra room.I'll probably change them out to conventional mounts because the minimal clearance renders the open sights awkward and the increased height of the scope looks assinine on a short rifle.

get a see thru base from Power Custom. Unobstructed view of the rifle sights plus the benefit of the scope. Best part is it looks a lot neater than the see through rings and you are not stretching your nect to get the scope lined up either.

I would not recommend weaver seethus. They will shift and your scope will not hold zero. It is easy to strip the receiver holes trying to get them tight enough. Even if you epoxy the bases to the receiver, the mounts bend easily if bumped even lightly.

I know you want ones that fit on the rails but there is an alternative.
Myself I used a set of Kwik-site see through mounts. Instead of using the dovetail it screwes directly to the receiver and looks very clean.
I also upgraded the sights to williams firesites. The largest scope i could use and have a good ironsite picure is a 32mm the set up is show below but i dont have a pic with the 32

These Tasco See Thru's work well...line up to the existing holes in the reciever....

Ebay is a good place to look for odd stuff, not readily in stock at your local shop
