What does this do exactly? I was thinking it allowed you to pull back on the bolt and let go with automatically sliding forward instead of locking back.

Cheers

it locks the slide back so you can lock it with the ruger 10/22 ONLY lock it comes with now, clean it, walk around and KNOW its empty, ect.

That's what it does basically. The factory bolt lock is very awkward to use and you have to push it in and up and hold your mouth a certain way and then it releases- sometimes.

I got some auto bolt releases from a fellow on CGN and they work awesomely. Just pull back the bolt and let it go instead of all the fumbling around. Just ordered two more and he said those were his last ones but I have seen them in Brownells.

Yes, you can still lock it open by flicking the lock lever near the trigger guard. But to release it, now all you have to do is pull back on the bolt.

Yes, of course. Locks up just fine. It is just a better design for releasing the bolt. It makes it one handed. Pull the bolt and go. I also find it locks up better (faster, easier) than the factory one.

SO its a nice mod then? I hope so, cause ordered one. I was gonna mod mine, but I always like keeping the stock parts to put things back to the way I bought it.

This is one mod you will never regret doing and it adds to the desirability of your gun if, God forbid, you decided to part with a Ruger. Seriously, as much as I like my Rugers, that factory bolt release/lock is an abomination. You will not want to put it back on.

Well, I already bought one and its on its way. It was like 10$ I think. I mainly wanted to know what it did for me.
