So I bought this cheap auto bolt release for my 10/22. Well, i don't really know if it's actually cheap, but I just found it inexpensive. I installed it in the rifle, and you don't need to be a rocket surgeon to do it. Now the problem is it is really hard to move and it doesn't hold the bolt open.

Anybody experience the same thing? Is it a defective part or did I manage to do something wrong?

I had this problem, I think it was the small spring, one end was on the wrong side of the pin so it wasent putting pressure on it to hold the auto bolt release in place

Just had Epps put one in. Works fine. Just waiting on the trigger parts. So....as above, clean and recheck. Reinstall, have fun.

Well, it was almost brand new, so the wrong spring placement seems to be more probable. I guess I'll try it again.

Thanks for your advice. I was wondering if I would get a bunch of 'I also bought a crappy auto bolt release too, don't buy from blabla...' but I guess I just can't follow basic instructions!

Go to youtube and look for trigger assembly videos, or look at an exploded diagram. There's a little spring on a pin, and the top arm of the spring needs to be hooked over the top of the upper pin, not under it.
