I was wondering what my options are when it comes to swapping out the stock 10/22 barrel, yet maintaining the Tapco stock? The stocker just doesn't look right....
Sporter(standard) barrels mostly, muzzle weighted barrels as well.
Bull barrels will work with some sanding and what not.
You'd need a pretty short barrel to not make OAL so I wouldn't worry about that part.
FABSPORTS - Your options are a standard taper barrel, no sites and the muzzle threaded in 1/2*28 for $149 or a 8.5" heavy barrel again threaded at the muzzle for the same price.
WHOLESALE SPORTS - you can get Butler Creek Barrels from about $200, they are 20" in length and are either fluted or non fluted. Stay away from BC carbon fibre barrels.
Or someone selling a used barrel - good luck on that one
Unless you see a road trip accross the border in your near future, these are your options. To fit a bull barrel in the Tapco stock you would need to sand out the barrel channel.
To let you know, I just bought another whole 10/22 that had a Green Mountain barrel on it because I was having such a hard time finding the barrel I wanted. I might have gone with the Butler Creek barrels, but I am going to do some target work with it, but am also going to carry it squirrel and crow hunting and did not want the extra weight.
