10/22 barrel choice??

I've got a 12.5" Dlask that's more accurate with cheap ammunition than the stock barrel; but the slightly tighter/shorter bentz chamber means shooting...crap, was it stingers or blazers?...the one with the longer casing...means to me (after having a mini-mag casing grenade-exciting!-gotta test these things...) that I stay away from cci ammo altogether.

Hmmm rereading this, it looks both disjointed and confusing, definitely one of my better posts.

Dlask say NO cci ammo on the x-tream series barrels. theses are the newer bull barrels he's making

I have the 16.5 X-tream Bull barrel.
That being said i was bummed out to hear that at first, i have since put a few 100 win HV rounds through it and a few more 100 of blue box fedral. I must say the blue box outshot the win stuff as i could basicly put all 10 shots into about a 1/2 group where the win stuff was about a 1 inch group.

Just don't shoot CCI with the new barrels.

Green Mountain here...shoots better then the stock bull barrel.

Who sells Green Mountain barrels in Canada? I haven't found a dealer here yet.
The "NO" CCI ammo through the Dlask barrels is not what I wanted to hear though  , CCI is all i have used in my .22's for a long time now & I swear by it.
Any other barrel suggestions are more than welcome as well, I just want to keep the length to a minimum of 18 inches.

Thanks for all the input guys it's all valued here. :D

I have a Green Mountain 19" heavy taper barrel (from Bits of Pieces) and while still at the early ammo testing stage, am VERY happy with it thus far.

I have a Green Mountain heavy contour barrel, fairly long (18" or more). While it is accurate, and excellent for shooting off the bench or bipod, I would not go that route again. It is overly heavy for shooting off hand or walking around with. I'd go with a shorter barrel or a lighter contour, or both. The quality of the barrel is far more important than the profile in a rimfire.

Agree with the previous post completely. I've built a number of 10/22s over the years and was never happy with the balance of the rifles with heavy barrels. My current (last !!) one has a GM 20" stainless fluted sporter barrel ordered from Barry at Bits of Pieces. Stock is a Hogue (they are available for factory contour barrels), and glass is a Leupold 3-9 Rimfire EFR in Talley LW ringmounts. Trigger bits are VQ. Balances beautifully right at the magazine.
