Hey guys/gals!

I've recently purchased a 10/22 and love it! I've fired 300rds out of the rifle and KNOW I want to start modding it!

I've already decieded on a stock from Richards Microfit Gunstocks. I'm going with the Tac-Driver in Electric Blue. And YES they ship to Canada.

Now as far as barrels go, I'm lost. I've been reading good and bad things about Butler Creek. Pretty much all good about Green Mountain barrels, and good reviews about Volq, and Whistle Pig.

Now I see GM sells barrels with sights. I would LOVE to be able to retain open sights as well as have a scope. IF I ever move back to NewBrunswick I want open sights, but here in Alberta I want a scope.

I have read that bull barrels have better accuracy over the stock barrel.

I've found a used Carbon Fiber Barrel ( Butler Creek for an asking price of $200 with 400rds down it. ) Now I know that doesnt' come with open sights.

I am also interested in a ss barrel, flutted or not makes no difference.

So would anyone be able to maybe clarifiy the differences inbetween makes and models of barrels.

IS one actually better than another??? ( I would assume so.... )

Thanks guys.

Green mountain seems to be holding a good reputation. I have one in a fluted bull barrel, its great for shooting off the bench or a bipod or field improvised rest, but its heavy and gets tiring quickly for shooting off hand. I'm considering getting one with a lighter profile or shorter. Its not that hard to swap barrels.

When I was researching barrels I read the butler creek CF isn't really carbon fiber but rather plastic. So it MIGHT be just for show rather than a true tension barrel design.

But as others mentioned look into DLASK or Green mountain because they are cheaper and have good reviews.

Run far far far away from those wanabee CF Butler creek barrels ,I have never heard of one good reveiw anywhere about them . I have built alot of 10/22's and back when I was building 10/22's I resurched the heck out of barrels

Could get a no sights bull barrel and use tech sights & their TS157 .920 Barrel Dovetail Adaptor if you ever wanted to switch to irons.

x2 what BCboy said.

Thanks guys.

Last nite while researching I also read what you mentioned about the BC barrels.

I really like the price of the Dlask barrels. I'm going to call Bits of Pieces today and get a price on a GM barrel.

I'm going to call KIDD today too. I've read great reviews on thier barrels as well. I'm in no major rush just doing my homework prior to my purchase.

Anyone have anything to say about the KIDD barrels??

From what I have heard the KIDD barrels are very well made and good shooters, but good luck getting them into Canada, they won`t ship here and it might cost you an arm and a leg to get someone to export it. You should also check out Mysticplayers website, http://www.mysticprecision.com/, he is a dealer on here and carries Shilen barrels. They also make a drop in barrel and they are supposed to be very accurate. The prices are higher definately, but the quality goes with it.
