I'm looking for a new bull barrel for my ruger 10/22 and i was wonder what barrels to consider and what ones to avoid. I don't need a really expensive barrel but I would still like a accurate one

Any of the aftermarket barrels for the 10/22 really are not to bad. Only one I would stay away from would be the carbon fibre barrels - specifically the one made by Butler creek. The one by VQ from what I hear is allright though. If I were getting a barrel for accuracy I would go with GM. Very good barrel for the money!

From my experience GM barrels are a great value.

Great performance and reasonable price.

You prolly can't go wrong with any aftermarket barrel. I have no experience with carbon fibre barrels but I'd look at an all metal barrel before considering a carbon one.

I really like my GM pipe. Got the 20" fluted and blued. Balances nicely in my BC hunting style stock.

The only other HB I have used was the BC carbon fibre barrel. This was not so good. Flex and shot worse then the orig barrel. The so called CF is actually inj molded plastic and it bends easily.

Once I got the GM, I stopped worrying about other brands. Chasing golf balls at 100yds is all the accuracy I will need from this rifle.

Believe it or not the stock ruger heavy is as good as any out there if you are using regular good ammo. The heavy barrels with benz chambers or any other match chambers are the only ones that stand way out from the crowd - but they are very tight chambers and you need very expensive ammo for them. My stock ruger heavy barrel has done 3 rd one hole (.23 caliber) groups at 100 yds -(NO wind only) But then again the rest of the rifle was heavily modified to the tune of over a grand's worth of mods in parts. The work I did myself - would have been more if there were smithy fee's. Cheaper to get an anschutz or walther - but I have several of those -Nice to have a semi that can compete with them though - :sniper::dancingbanana:

$1000 worth of [no gunsmithh fees] mods on a 10/22 with a factory barrel? Those are some pretty crazy mods...why leave the factory barrel on if you are spending that kind of cash?
