Hi there.

So.
I am sure this exists, and I hope you folks can tell me exactly what to look for:

I'm really sick of cringing after emptying a magazine and hearing "PING" as the firing pin smacks the edge of the chamber..
is there a device I can get to pop into my 10/22 that will make the bolt hold open when the magazine is empty, and if so, what exactly is it called?

thanks very much
-Derek

I didn't go for it because you have to use their specially designed magazines in order for the automatic bolt stop to work. That means no high capacity magazines. It's also pricey for what it is. I just count the rounds I fire. Firing pins are cheap to replace and easy to do.

Cabelas won't ship this item to your address in Canada. You'll have to ship it to an American address and import it yourself.

I have seen them advertised at other Ruger web stores. The ones I saw used regular magazines if I remember correctly.

I have the web addresses on another computer & can get them for you if you want.

Are you sure

the firing pin hits the edge of the chamber? I have dry fired mine hundreds of times and there is no indication of the pin hitting the edge of the chamber. I have headspaced the bolt as well.

Yes 10/22 can be dry fired ruger even recommends it in the manual in the section about the "T" version to get use to the lighter trigger.

no no, i was referring to this:

"It doesn't. You can dry fire the 10/22." referring to the firing pin hitting the edge of the chamber

Alot of newer 22's have firing pin stops to prevent this very thing. To check it out, take the bolt out and use a small punch or nail or something and push the firing pin forward from the rear as if it was being hit by the hammer. It will stop just short of flush with the leading edge of the bolt.
