10/22 bolt

Have you tried any of the Lothar barrels???

The cost of having fun and experimenting with different combinations adds up fast, and not always great returns!

Your very correct. No I have not tried a Lothar barrel. I have only stated what has shown to perform the best in the few Ive built. I also bought parts out of convenience and availability. I also try to support local or Canadian businesses when possible. Id definately try a Lothar barrel with their track record. I believe they supply the blanks for Kidd barrels, but it may be Volquartsen. Sorry just seen crowellsr post

I am in the market for a 10/22 and I would like to customize some of the parts down the road. I have never owned a 10/22 and I am not familiar enough with the models. Are most upgrades compatible with both the "regular" versions as well as the take-down model? I assume the trigger groups are but I am doubtful about changing out the barrel.

Any advice would be appreciated.

if you want a bolt 22lr just for practice and getting used to a bolt, what is the cheapest (reasonable quality) option currently? Own a semi ruger 10/22, dont want to sink that much money for a bolt

I just picked up a Ruger American Rimfire 8358 yesterday. 16" barrel, 3lbs trigger and best part uses 10/22 mags. Was $535 but is nicer fit/finish than a cheaper Savage offering.
