Hey all, looking to build a 10/22 over the winter. Will be strictly a bench gun with most shots at 60 or 120 yards. (Those are my two setups at home) will be for punching paper and kyl bundles at those ranges. Occasionally might shoot bigger steel at longer ranges but that’s not the main focus. It will be slowly put together over the winter so budget isn’t a huge factor but I dont need to break the bank either. So what are the must haves? Kidd barrels have a 1/2” at 50 guarantee, might start there on a dlask receiver? What do you guys think?

Interested as well. Starting with a cheap 10/22. Similar goals of target shooting only, so weight isn't an issue.

This is the last one I built.
Grey Birch Fusion LDR, KRG Bravo chassis, KRG Arca rail, MDT Elite rings, MDT Gen2 PRS Ckye pod, Kidd bolt, Kidd single stage trigger group, Athlon Midas TAC 5-25x56.

The one I’m currently building is (so far) TUF-22 receiver, IBI 20” carbon barrel, Kidd bolt and trigger, Oryx chassis.

Do some research on the Kidd bolt and Timney trigger pack. A niggling thought was that they were at “odds “ with each other. Think I read about a problem within the last 6 weeks on the rimfirecentral site

I’m putting another one together soon, SBI receiver, VQ bolt, 16” carbon IBI.

The Volquartsen bolt is a superior design due to:

DLC coating is very slick, and also keeps carbon build up to a minimum, plus titanium captured firing pin

The charging handle screws right into the bolt body, so pulling it back doesn’t cause any twist on the recoil guide rod.

The only unknown is the trigger. Not a fan of 2 stage but the single stage Kidd trigger I had went to about 1lb and broke like glass

I have tried just about every trigger and the Kidd is the best by far. The Volquartsen comp bolt is by far the best as well, as stated by DMS1. If I had to pick between the Kidd trigger or the VQ bolt, hands down the Kidd trigger. The Kidd bolt is awesome as well but the VQ eliminates some friction parts and doesnt get gunked up. After thousands of rounds it just wipes clean and looks new. Very impressive. Several thousand rounds and not one malfunction!! Tapped trigger pins are also advantageous over factory fall out pins. My 2 cents

Does the VQ bolt and Kidd trigger have compatibility issues? Or is it good to go

I havent experienced any problems and ive built many. Kidd and VQ parts are machined to such exacting tolerances that Ive never seen any difference in weight or measurements . Dlask products are also very well made with excellent materials and workmanship. My last ten have all been built with Dlask receivers.

I went with
Dlask receiver
Dlask bbl
Kidd single stage
Kidd bolt

Shoots 1/2” @ 50 with cci sv. If I do my part.

Had a ruger 10/22 to build off. But the quality was sad. So I went all in.
