Hey,

Fairly new to this but I'm hoping I can show you guys what I want and you'll let me know the cheapest/best way to get it!

Basically I want to build/buy a 10/22 that looks like the one in the first post in this thread
http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/63393-10-22-Tips-amp-Tricks

I priced out getting one from Dlask but looks to be more than I'm willing to spend.

Thoughts?

Google boyds stock.
However imo dlask built may be cheaper in the long run.
Plus you have support when/ if it has issues.
Building on your own, you learn more but at a cost.
Wanstalls has rifles you may like!

How much are you looking to spend? Custom parts are not cheap.

I really don't know, I priced out Dlask and for what I want I'm looking around $1000.00, but I'm thinking if I buy a used 10/22 with a stainless barrel, swap the stock I'll be close... But I do want a muzzle break, so do I buy a barrel that has a threaded end or do I get the end of a stock barrel threaded by a gunsmith?

Also what's a going rate for a used 10/22?

Also is there an issue buying parts from the good old USA ? Other than our dollar being as strong as a red headed step child

I have well over $1000 into my sr22, if I'd just spent the money in the first place......

That's me but you'll hear that from anyone who is serious about these guns

Kinda why I'm asking questions now before I start spending the cheddar

If you buy a suppressor, men with guns in uniform will take you away and lock you in a cage for 5 to 10 years. If you want a fake suppressor or muzzle brake, you're still an evil person for owning a gun but at least you won't be locked in a cage. In that case, a factory threaded barrel is going to be cheaper.

Keep a eye on the ee. I've bought a few builds on there. My last build just cost me $1500 without optics

Muzzle Break(fixed it don't need any uniforms showing up!), that's what I wanted just for show because you don't need one on a .22 I just think it looks cool.

your cheapest option to have a 10/22 look like the one in the link would be to find a stock stainless 10/22. then buy a boyds stock and a stainless bull barrel. come to think of it, your still probably better off just going with a Dlask build for the quality its worth the extra cash. your looking at around 300 for the rifle, 200-300 (or more) for the barrel, and another 200 or so by the time you get the stock from boyds. thats 700-800 bucks.

Like other have already stated watch the EE and pick up some great used parts. Build a nice little shooter then build another and another and so on. The best part about these custom guns is that they are easy to part out when your feeling like trying something new. Have fun.

First answer this question, as it is critical to everything that follows, are you after that "look" or are you after "performance?"

The Volquartsen?! Darn you! Lol I finally talked myself into throwing in an "ill take it". Found the post and it was sold! If that's not the one, congrats on the buy either way.

went and looked at the pic you referenced.
it looks like the one i built for my dad.

that gun is a stainless 1991 Ruger 10/22 with a aftermarket Green Mountain Bull Barrel on a Boyd Thumbhole stock.
only thing done to the internals is polished the bolt and VQ'd the internals.

i think he is into that gun for around 700/800 plus optics.
(gun 250, barrel 200, stock 200, VQ parts 150ish)

you could build that easy right now with a threaded stainless barrel from Dlask.
pick up a stainless ruger off of ee and order a stock from Boyd.
doing the trigger work id say send it away to Brimstone and your done and youd have a real nice gun.

HC is the Yoda when it comes to 10/22 and building them.
answer his questions truthfully and he shall guide you in the way of the 10/22, he will.

he helped me with my first build and i haven't looked back since.

Nope wasn't me. This last one I built myself. Tactical innovations rear pull receiver, Kidd black bolt, tactical solutions barrel, magpul stock, and timney trigger.

Turned to the dark side he has. All of his builds sold they are. hope with a recent purchase though there is.

Up north, I'm pretty sure your to blame for my addiction. Not that it's a bad thing, but following your 10/22 threads early on when joining CGN is what gave me the bug. OP it's a steep and slippery slope! Have fun.

I'm sure everyone's performance definition is different, I want to be able to shoot 100 yards max, realistically most shots will be less than 60 yards. I would also like it not to jam up. So that's what I want for performance. And I want it to look ###y lol

I don't have access to the EE, I've asked but no go yet

What's a used 10/22 worth? Say 2,4,8 years old?
