Just curious if anyone here has purchased a 10/22 compact?

Any issues?

Also, has anybody put a folding stock on one, and what does that make the overall length?

... Considerations for B.O.B. ...

It Will Be Restricted If You Add A Folder To It, I Have A 18.5" Barrel On Mine And My Total Length With My Butler Creek Folder When Folded Is 27.5". The Compact Version I Believe Has A 16' 1/4" Barrel And That Would Make The OAL Just Under 26". So It Will Be Restricted

Got a compact & a folding stock by Butler Creek. The OAL is under 26" so it would 100% definitely be restricted. I had to get a 18" barrel like srnm to make mine non-restricted. I think my avatar is my 10/22 when it had the 16.5" barrel on it. Looked good, too bad the laws are dumb.

Edit: If i recall correctly, with the compact barrel the OAL when folded was around 25".

I had this issue before. You just need to make the OAL over 26". Barrel length by itself is not a factor.

Any aftermarker flash hider/muzzle brake/barrel accessory with give you enough length. Just make sure that it is permanently attached, ie, pinned on, welded on etc. Not just threaded on.

Its not a big deal

*EDIT*

Oh yeah, the folder I used was a buttler creek folding stock. Measurements would of course be different if you are using a different stock.

As far as I understand the law,
if you call it in (re-verify the gun, whatever),
they will change the classification to restricted.
If the gun is registered as non-restricted
and you put a folder which makes the folded lenght
less than 26" without changing the classification,
then it becomes illegal.
(But I was wrong so many times before...).

+1 to what BabySeal is saying about
permanently attaching a muzzle device.

Well, I think that the same idea may be able
to work at the other end of the gun too.
Somebody was posting long ago about a genius idea
about welding a chain link (or similar thing)
on the trunion of the folder, if you are missing few milimeters.
Would that legally work???

I saw one guys folding shotgun on here. He was about a 1/4" short so he stuck a bolt and washer into the back of the folder.

It contributed JUST the correct amount to the OAL to keep it N.R.

Its all good!

I was going to weld on a flash hider or add something to the rear part of the rifle, but when you think about it, just getting a 18" barrel is far less work with the same outcome and nothing is budda'd in the process.

And easily found on the E & E when people mod their newly-purchased 10/22's.;)
