10/22 Dlask barrel issues.

UPDATE:

So I may have fixed the problem, I still need to shoot it to confirm, but I was able to cycle rounds through the gun without them getting all caught up and jamming.

The solution was to shim the barrel a bit. I used a piece of cardstock and coke can to give a bit more space. Now the barrel is not sitting as far back. Once I test this I will hopefully be in the clear and pass that info along to others suffering the same issue.

Well, shimming the barrel worked for me, it eliminated the problem completely. I used a piece of aluminium pop can and a piece of cardstock paper cut out to fit around the barrel. Installed it and trimmed so I dont see edges sticking out. I'm very happy with the results and the only jams I had were some initial stove pipes but they went away after a mag.

Wow. FWIW, I've played with two Green Mountain barrels, two Butler Creek cheapies, 2 Dlasks in different lengths (both shorter than stock), and one from Midway (maker unknown, purchased many years ago). The Midway and the Dlasks were the only ones which had no issues of any sort, functioned perfectly and increased accuracy substantially. The others either didn't fit without lots of drama, didn't improve accuracy at all...or both.

I just finished putting 500 rounds through my new Dlask barrel. The Dlask barrel tenon was 0.005" longer than the factory barrel tenon. Thought there might be a problem......nope!

Chamber was reamed nice and smooth, extractor groove lined up good.

Absolutely no problems feeding or extracting.

Shot a couple of 1 hole 10 round groups using American Eagle ammo (25 yds)

Winchester Dyna-Points...............not as good. Have to do an ammo test soon to see what to stock up on.

Just tried out my 12.5" Dlask barrel and it looks like a winner. Need to try out more types of fodder to see what it likes best.

Auggie D.
