does anyone have an exploded view of the bolt and extractor
the rimfirecentral sticky photo does not work for me
and i am planning on replacing the extractor soon, as in tonite
thanks
I just replaced mine on Friday night... how did yours fit?
On mine I had to file a minor amount of the bolt-metal where the extractor passes over; the problem was that the exact edge extractor is more aggressive and was snagging on the steel (not enough clearance).
The bolt is a very hard steel and actually rounded-destroyed the file I was using, but I did manage to get enough cleared for the extractor to move freely and not bind.
I can honestly say I saw and felt the difference. You can feel it when you place a .22lr cartrige under the stock extractor with your hand and jiggle it around - then try it with the new extractor (it's rigid tight and held in with a death grip ).
It's definitely a must do on any Ruger .22lr.
With that said I went shooting on both Saturday and Sunday and after 800rnds there were "ZERO" failures to extract ; I did have a few failure to feeds but it was traced to one magazine which wouldn't feed properly (mag was returned and all is well again).
