10/22 front sight problems

Trying to replace the stock front sight on my 10/22 to a taller one for a new peep sight.

Using a brass punch to drift the sight left to right.. but it won't budge.

Looking closer at it... I see that there seems to be like a little pin wedged into to the grove.

Anyone have experience removing the front sight?

I am thinking of just getting the hacksaw out and sawing the sight off... but that would waste a perfectly good front sight.

Post pics, I've never seen a pinned front sight on a 10/22

Support the barrel well, use a steel punch, they come out...
