Buy the wooden stock because it's cheaper. Chances are you will be upgrading the stock/barrel in the future. I bought cheapest model with the intention of doing nothing to it. I now have plans in the works for upgrades. Not because it needs it but because its fun to tinker.

You may end up replacing the stock anyways. I would suggest a Hogue overmold.

Come to think of it the stainless action my be better for you. If it's going to be a truck gun the stainless my be more durable, ie: rust from neglect. The blueing on the other rifle would most likely get worn fast from bouncing and sliding around.

I voted stainless synthetic.
IMO, stainless synthetic is the way to go if it is going to be a "trip gun". That way it doesn't get beat up as bad, ect.
My grouse gun is a CZ 452 stainless synthetic and it is in very good condition, and looks brand new. I have carried it through the bush many times.

I got my 10/22 just to dump a lot of ammo, cheaply. I was not going to put on any add ons and I havn't (except for a Russian collimator sight). Thus, I went with the blued synthetic as it was the cheapest package (same price as blued, wood). The plastic stock feels soooo crappy and cheap but it does make the gun look cooler when a 30 round mag is in place, and it is resistant to the elements. I accidentally spilled solvent all over it once and there was no damage. I would probably go with synthetic again, unless there was an option of a nice wood like walnut for the same price (which there isn't).

I'd go with the stainless synthetic. That's what I'll be buying in a year or two for sure.
I voted stainless synthetic because thats what I have and abuse. Not most of the time but once, I was walking up a very steep bank with the 10/22 and a butler creek 25rnder emptied it, pulled out the mag to load as I was walking. Then the huge rock I was on moved and I fell, dropped the rifle, it tumbled about 30 feet down the bank. There was some very loud profanities following. The rifle is fine except a few small scratches on the barrel but not noticable really, kinda.

I have filed and sanded my synthetic stock and it feels as nice as any wood stock and handles well. So smooth. I am playing with it to see what I can make out of it- may cutpolish it and then wax it just for kicks. Cant hurt it and weathere wont rot it. I am actually glad I got the plastic stock and it actually seems to look better with the stainless. One mans meat.
