well, I've started prepping for gopher season. They should pop their dirty little heads up on occasion starting this week here. In honour of that, I did the auto bolt release mod and added an extended mag release.

I drilled and tapped for 1/4UNF and epoxied a cut down .303 brit brass over it. Tap went in a little crooked (bad machinist apprentice, no coffee!), but it is still servicable and has the desired backwards cant. Seems to work smoothly and really does make swapping mags easier.

Yeah i really should have c-sunk alot deeper, but the boss was only gone for couple minutes and i figured full round should do it. probably would if I didn't tap the dang thing a little crooked. I MAY fill the hole back up with epoxy and do it again.... might have to use a nickle plated .357 case next time (but the canuck boy in me appreciates the .303)
 
I did the same thing once. Sort of. I never tapped the hole though. I just made it a friction fit for the stainless pin I stuck in.

Looked very clean, and it worked just fine.

elimsprint, kind like that, only I prefer rim down, with that slight backwards rake for my hands. Nicely done on both of yours. BTW how do you like the second receiver hold down screw, notice much of a difference?
 
I think you do need the backward rake as that one interfered with the extraction of 10 round mags. That was also a real cool HP round and I wanted that to show. I think the second hold down works great, it took almost a 1/2" off the groups on this gun. I also have slightly flexible bedding in the front and you can tweak it with the front action screw. I am going to do the same with the other one when I get around to it. Have you done your trigger yet, I see you still have the plunger return. The single biggest improvement you can do to your gun for accuracy IMHO.

I haven't done the trigger yet. Just polished things up a bit and re-radiused the plunger. Much smoother and more consistent, but only a little lighter. At least I can't hold it up, cocked by the trigger (scoped with a 3-9X40 aluminum body) anymore!

I'm figuring I'll stone the hammer and do some travel adjustments if the gophers aren't dying at a sufficient rate.
