10/22 issue

Ya its f**ked i just went out and got a 3/16 steel rod and a wood rod. The wood just shattered when i hammerd it and the steel rod bent. Tryed the wd40 first too.

Wood and force, on anything in the barrel, is asking for misery.

With a steel rod, you still need to use more than just a little technique to keep the rod from getting FUBAR.
Wailing away at the end of the rod with a hammer, ain't it.

Post your location.

Or PM me and I'll pay for the postage when you send it to me, after you spring for the replacement!

Cheers

the reason it didn't work is you're way UNDER DIAMETER-3/16 IS ONLY .1875- YOU NEED 7/32=.21875- YOUR 22 BORE IS ABOUT 224 OR SO- ALL THAT DId WAS FLEX AND SLIP OFF TO ONE SIDE-ideally, a 22 cleaning rod should screw into one end of it, and then take the handle off the rod and tap it with a soft face mallet- but sounds like you stuck some cf bore brush way over caliber ( like a 25) in there

I'd like to know what you did to get it stuck that bad....

Now I'm just guessing here, but he probably pushed the brush through from the muzzle end and didn't push it through completely to the chamber before trying to pull it back out, which, in this case, forced the bristles on the brush outwards and creating the problem. I did this once, took a heck of a lot of force to get her moving again. I tell you, you will only do this once, after that, you will be sure to fully push the brush right through into the chamber before trying to pull the brush back through the bore!

I'd offer some advice, but everything I tried, including the one thing that worked has already been offered in this thread!

Hope you can get it out!

Well, you guys who laughed at me were absolutely right. Ruger emailed me back and confirmed that my lowly 10/22 didn't have the tapered bore that my scientific bore brush experiment indicated. :D The mind does funny things sometimes after 30+ years...:D
