10-22 jamming... any solutions???

I got tons with my archangel nomad stock/magazine....havent played with it enough to figure out the problem yet though.

If your butler creek mag is brand new they tend to wear in after use. I find after a few outings it works more smoothly. Also If your gun isn't super clean, 10-22s tend to jam.

there's a ton of 10/22 tips and fixes if you search. my BC steel lips cause jams the first few rounds but they are new also. keep shooting and see if they break in

I find the Blazzers feed through nicley in my 10/22., also keeping it really clean helps.
Get a mag light or small flashlight, lock you action open and insert the mag empty, there should be a fairly smooth transition from mag to chamber, check for too tall or too short mag lips, too tall can be corrected if its too short it can also but it gets a little dicey.
Also before filing or anything like that run a brick through it... It'll get annoying but a lot of 22 issues are associated with break in

Any one else experiencing this? I was using butler creek steel lips 25rd mags. every mag i would get about 7 or 8 of these jams. very frustrating.
Next time you are at the range, apply light forward-pressure on the mag while shooting (pushing on the rear of the mag, towards the target.) If you get no failures, then I know what it is. Cheers~
BC steel lips usually need filing to clear the bolt properly otherwise you'll get a lot of stovepiping. I also load them up with 25 rds then let them sit for a day or 2 to set the spring. Insert an unloaded mag and cycle the action to see if the bolt rubs the feed lips. If it does they usually need filing on top and the left edge of the very top. You can use marker or paint to help find where they're rubbing.

Since purchasing my 10-22 near the end of january I've taken it out twice.. once in -28 weather right out of the box I put over 1000 rounds through it using mostly butler creek mags with only a couple malfunctions due to trying to run the mags clipped together I found it pulled them apart.. And earlier this week I went out in -2 weather and shot 1500 rounds without a single jam, stovepipe, FTE, FTF, Double feed, anything.. The first 1000 I put through were federal bulk, some cci and some winchester wildcat.. The 1500 from the other day were exclusively blazer bulk.. Just make sure you strip, clean and lightly oil your 10-22 and ensure the mag is properly seated at all times and you should be golden.
Mine was jamming last fall despite being freshly stripped and cleaned. I'm talking stovepipes every few shots. This is a gun I've had for years, including the steel lips mags, and I've no idea how many thousands rounds it has run. I got a volquartsen bolt upgrade kit and last week I ran 4 mags with just 1 failure to eject. I suspect the new extractor had a lot to do with that

Butler creek steel lips need to be filed down.
I have had to do this with every 10/22 butler creek mag I have ever purchased, the bolt won't even close half the time without filing down the feed lips.

X2, I've yet to buy one that didn't need filing. But once you do its night and day. Last time out I put hundreds of rds of blazer through 2 25 rd BC steel lips without one single failure in an all original '89 10/22. Not bad.
