Does Ruger make a 10/22 with a nice laminate stock without the heavy barrel? I'd like to pick up a 10/22 with either a blued or stainless barrel with the laminate stock. I'm just plinking gophers and target so I don't need the target scoring accuracy, just something light weight, reliable, and sharp looking...oh yeah, and fun! Help me out??

No they do not. I would seriously consider the heavy barrel version even for hunting. The sporter barrels that normally come on the Ruger 10/22 are very inaccurate. I have seen a couple that have been accurate - most likely because the tolerances on this barrel were smaller than that on other 10/22 factory barrles (chamber/bore was slightly smaller).

If you are set on the sporter/light barrel you could just by a regular 10/22 and then find a laminate stock for it; really not to hard to do. As you know there are hundreds of parts available for the 10/22 :) :)

I just found some nice wood stocks for my 1022stainless. Not fond of tupperware at all. The wood feels much better and actually looks pretty good. Trigger pull is down to 3lbs now and it pops grouse heads at 50ft pretty nice. All the metal is still stock except for some trigger parts (Volq). Just floated the barrel and am taking her out to see how she shoots now. Any better than I get now would make me very happy.
