10/22; last round strategies

So I was reading that, apparently, after a time of (dry?) firing a 10/22 the firing pin stop pin can deform, and when it does it can start to peen the breach face. Not sure when, but Ruger replaced the stop pin with a hollow (roll) pin vs the solid pin they originally had. The roll pin is a little springier and doesn't deform as easily.

Hope links are okay on here: Dry firing 10/22; stop pin

Yes, a Last Shot Hold-open made to fit 'any rifle' would be a great invention. Have to look over my Marlin-60 to see how that's done. It's the only 22 I have that 'holds'. My Ruger Ranch in x39 has a built up follower that locks after LS, maybe that's a way for the stick mags ? My Ruger American G1 and Savage B22-FV are rotary mags, so the snap caps rule there.

Waste of time and money being that it’s safe to dry fire. CST stateside make a kit but you need their bolt too. $200 USD so probably over $300 cdn landed here, but they been out of stock for a while. I suppose if you’re building an expensive parts toy what’s another few hundred? Price as almost as much as a bone stock rifle.

Yep, as mentioned above there already is a system, and I have tried it and it works great. You need to get a new bolt, and then modify the trigger for it.

The standard ruger, bx triggers are easy, and the kidd trigger can be done as well, just harder to do as there is a roll pin that needs to be removed.

There was a Canadian dealer that was bringing them in a few years ago, I'll have to see if I can find them again.

Canadian Safety Source used to carry them and I bought mine through them. Don't know if they still carry them.
