As we as a community fight the good fight over the recent capacity limitations to the 10/22; I'm left compelled to manage my own welfare by becoming compliant so I can enjoy my rifle.

My question, can I personally pin my magazines or is there something that requires a smith to undertake this? And, if I can I'm open to any recommendations for a Promag Nomad.

There's no reason why you cannot do it yourself if you have the skills to do it right. As for WHERE to drill for the pin I can't help you there.

Thanks guys. I certainly don't want to cave however; I also want to have a plan if this doesn't go our way. With respect to where to drill the mag, I'll take any information you can offer. I'm an electrician with welding and automation experience, I can take it on.

Don't pin it or alter it. If the prohib stands, we'll have an opportunity to pin later. Butbif you do it now, it's illegal to remove the pin (so I've read).

I honestly don't think the horse cops will arrest anyone unless provoked - they don't want a bad legal precedent. Better to live in the cloud of uncertainty, so your mags are safe at home, as is.

Fight the good fight by not complying.

Leave your magazines as is for now, if you don't feel comfortable using and transporting them at this time with the current situation store them away in a safe place and purchase a couple of factory 10 shot mags to use while this whole debacle plays out.

No Duff: I have information the manufacturer is going to issue a press release stating that pinning the mags is unsafe due to the construction and materials.

I strongly suggest you hold off.

I don't plan on doing anything with a couple 25 round 10-22 mags that are lying around my garage. I wouldn't buy them so I guess the kids left them behind.

Just buy new 10 round factory mags if you are that worried and toss the long extended mags in the trash. Or sell them.

I'm putting mine into a time capsule, that way some day future generations can open it and see what dangerous times we lived in.

If it comes to it and they can't safely be pinned a lot of people are going to be out quite a bit of cash.

If they must eventually be turned in for destruction I say fill 'Em with garbage, then hand them in. Show them how much we think it stinks... :p

(Only half joking)

I have already seen pinned (rivets) BC mags in one of my LGS, the owner pinned them himself because he did not want to be out any $$. He said that he could not return them to his distributor for credit. He had about 6-8 on the shelf. Should be entertaining to hear what he has to say if they are not able to be safely pinned.

If they throw all 2 million of us in the slammer over rimfire magazines, we can still work towards making it our own space...

My mags aren't going anywhere. Unless someone else with balls needs one.

People like this is why they did what they did
Smarten up guys and don't be fools
Wait until this BS is over

Also you technically have to be qualified to pin it.
DON'T be a PIN head
Use different mags

if you can see thru the mag body, put 10 rounds in then make a mark where the end of the follower is, measure 1/2 a case length of 22 and add width of rivet (add a mark at 1/2 width of rivet from end of measure for center)
You want to pin to 10.5 rounds so you can seat a full mag on a closed bolt. I had to pin my mags for my 715t (sold since), I didn't find until AFTER they became prohib. Kinda scary really.
