10/22 Magnum..Click..No Bang

No sence Blupul...
The only difference between the 10/22 LR and 10/22 HMR trigger group is a heavier hammer spring.

 - Gerich...does the TG have a HMR hammer spring and does your receiver have a magnum bolt in it???? (heavier than LR)

I won't argue because I don't have a scale but I'll take some pictures of a magnum vs a Vq .. It won't be tonight I'm at work till 8. Thanks for the skull mag release . It touches things off nicely

Can't remember exactly as its been a while since I had a 10/22......does the firing pin have a spring? If so, can you take it out and replace it with a lighter spring (from a pen for example). Perhaps the firing pin spring is too heavy and absorbing alot of the impact from the hammer?
Also take the firing pin out and make sure there are no burrs that are causing it to hang up or too much friction, also taking from the hammer's impact..

It definately has a Magnum bolt, it's way heavier than a normal LR one. I don't know about the hammer spring though, but it is stronger than the VQ one. I could pull a few normal LR's apart to see how it compares to them.

I thought the hammer could be hitting the bottom of the bolt instead of getting a full hit on the firing pin but there aren't any marks on the bolt. The bolt could be too hard to mark though. I notice when I push the pins out to take out the trigger group, with the hammer down, that it springs back a bit. Not sure if that's normal.

So what's the best way to shim the barrel forward? Slide the barrel ahead a slip in some brass or something thin?

Not concerned with lightening the trigger pull anymore, I was just hoping that by putting in some fancy parts, the problem would go away.

Read the article. Sounded similar.

Sounds like I should order the Power Custom Firing pin and get the headpace to .049.

Can I do the headspace myself with some lapping compound, or is it a "smith" job?
