Does anyone know where to buy a stock 10/22 metal trigger housing? I've seen a couple American sites selling them but I can't seem to find a dealer in Canada.

The volquartson tg2000(and other high dollar trigger groups) has been suggested before but I don't fancy spending more than the gun costs on a part that should have been kept metal.

Is there an aftermarket housing(just the bare housing) that perform better? I wouldn't mind spending ~$100 or so if there's something out there that would make a difference. I'm just not too keen on spending money for a "super duper trigger group" that I'll never fully utilize.

Maybe it's just me but tupperware triggers and trigger components have no place on a gun like the 10/22.

But are perfectly acceptable for Glocks, Springfields, Walthers, HKs, et al :)

Why don't you worry about it when you wear the part out and need to replace it.

Or is it just an excuse to spend more money on our toys?

Cheers,

I have owned 15-20 10/22's over the last 20 years. I have only had 3 that had failure to feed issues that were not a faulty mag or severe need. For a cleaning(thousands of rounds btween cleaning)
Those three were three of only four plastic trigger group models, all brand new.
I used to recomend the 10/22 to everyone. Not anymore!
I will buy.your old one if you want a new one!
Ruger has gone to sh*t as winchester did a few years years before.
Cheap plastic and pressed metal parts mark the decline of quality.
And no I am not a plastic hayter. I love my HKSl8 and CX4 storm. Those are high teck plastic and well made for reliability!
I am saddened by rugers current poor quality! William Ruger would/should be ashamed!

I just bought a brand new 10/22. Admittedly it's my first 10/22, but so far it's been nothing but a joy to shoot. It ate every kind of ammo we could find at the local gun store, and I tested out over a dozen different kinds.

Back when Ruger made quality guns even the most abused and neglected one would work like yours with a simple cleaning. No body. Bought one ten years ago and had failiers to feed and fire, you can't say that now. Even some lakefields work, that doen't mean they are a quality gun. The 10/22 cost the same as it did 20 years ago. Taking into account inflation it's obvious they've cut cost. In guns this always equals lower quality control.

back on track hornet products make a trigger gaurd assembly housing for about 20 bucks out of polymer, I have 3 of them no problems atall, as for issues with feeding/shooting all my customs shoot great.

as for the ruger 1022 factory being lower quality new nowadays yes they are but I think thats due to the huge aftermarket parts supply, ruger expects people to trick them out, gut them and rebuild imho
