The ruger 10/22/ mp5 navy has haunted my dreams and cost me several hours on a mill.
Here are some thoughts. The mp5 is such a different shape from the ruger that to make a close duplicate, u will need trigger linkages etc...
The ruger is quite wide and trying to fit an airsoft over it will be next to impossible.
There are some kits that will get you an approximate shape and size of an mp5 five but certainly not replicas.
For what it's worth, here is what I came up with.
First, my concept drawing. This was done over a photo of ruger and takes into account trigger position etc...

Next image is a photo of the bare aluminum chassis with it photoshopped black and accessories added with photoshop. I guess it is a look into the future of how I hope it turns out.

After many hours of milling, here is the chassis without the ruger inside. A few small parts, some finishing then anodizing and it will be complete. Hoping for mid-sept completion.

This has been a fun project and it is starting to take shape. It will never be a perfect replica because of the difference in shape of the two guns. Knowing how much work was involved, not sure I would have started but I'm starting to see light at the end of the tunnel. If you can make an mp5 out of ruger, i say go for it.
WOW. that mill work is awesome! i can barely wait to see the finished model. you really should make the sd front end also.... imo.
