Does anyone know where I can buy 10/22 parts in Calgary, I have a SR22 that is brand new and I am having troubles with rounds not extracting properly, I am looking for aftermarket heavy duty extractors, a upgraded V block and maybe a charging handle. I have found a couple places in Edmonton but I cant seem to find anyone who carry's parts in Calgary.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Jflyer

Ya the Federal seems to feed and extract better than the American Eagle which seems odd as they are both made by federal, I would like to switch to the Federal ammo because it is cheaper too but it does not group nearly as well. I have tried Remington and Winchester as-well and I get the same problem, the empty shell does not extract all the way and stays in the receiver jamming the next round and the bolt all up. In a 25 round mag this will happen at least twice.

Butler Creek.... I was thinking about changing but every forum I have looked at said they were the best. My mag problem is that if you compare the butler creek mag to the factory the rail that guided the bullet up is much steeper on the butler creek thus the tip of the bullet goes too high and misses the chamber and jams between the top of the receiver and the barrel. I would like the ruger bx 25 clip but they have of coarse made it illegal in Canada.

Try different kindsa ammo before you go spending $$$ on parts. I have BC mags and the original extractor and have fed 1000's through them no probs. Also, cleaning may be the issue. When my 10-22 starts to act up its usually time to clean/oil it.

I've been using the butler creek and the pro mags and I get the jams with both. I'm in the process of trying a bunch of different ammo myself. I was going through a bunch on Saturday at the range and just ended up getting fed up and quit for the day. I love the rifle but it just gets annoying having to clear a jam with every few rounds.

Thats exactly where I am at, I have tried different ammo and apparently I have the better aftermarket magazine, Thats why I was going to try a upgraded extractor and extractor spring to see if this improves things. Otherwise I love the rifle, its lots of fun for gophers.

if you have access to another 10/22 try the magazine in it
i found in mine the mag / gun combo was most of the problem
a mag that you sometimes get a couple of fail to load / fail to eject every mag in one gun may work fine in another gun
thats how mine seem to be

***I have been rocking Winchester m-22's lately. They work pretty good for me.

M-22's are working well for me as well.
But Federal 40gr. Champions are the best in my carbine.
As far as my BC 25rnd. magazine, I put it out of it's misery today 10 M-22's at 10 yards, it did not stand a chance. I will never buy another.

Do you guys have the same feeding issues with the stock magazine?

Another thing I hear often is that 10-22 can have feeding issues with the first ~300 rounds you put through it and then gets better.

Oh and sorry, I don't know of any stores in Calgary. :)

I have several 10-22 set ups all can shoot any ammo with no issues, have run 1000's of rounds through them. I run the BC mags with plastic lips and metal lips also the new ArcAngel ones (M4 style) I do find sometimes the BC plastic lips dont always grab.
most new guns are tight. need to work them in and keep them clean. if you want good groups shoot better ammo. stores in cowtown are shooting edge, calgary shooting centre, wholesale sports.

I have tried all kinds of ammo, the only one that seems to cycle good is the federal but it does not group at all.

As you already know, parts are hard to find in Canada, let alone Calgary. I wouldn't expect to find anything that you're looking for locally. Though that would be nice... Check Edge and the Shooting Center, maybe you'll get lucky. Maybe Bass Pro, who knows. It's frustrating waiting on parts, so in the meantime there are a few things you can try that might help with your extraction issues (assuming it is indeed extraction that you are talking about, not ejection):

First, if "all kinds of ammo" means three or four different kinds, then keep trying.

If that doesn't help, then there are a number of easy tweaks you can do without the need of parts:

Deburr and polish the extractor and extractor plunger; Tune the extractor by putting a slightly more aggressive hook on it; Lightly polish the chamber and VERY lightly chamfer and polish the chamber mouth and face; Smooth the action by polishing the hammer face and corresponding contact points on the bolt, surfaces of the bolt that ride on the receiver, contact surfaces on the charging handle, and the surface of the recoil spring guide (hidden under the recoil spring).

These are all jobs that will improve your rifle anyway, so that's what I'd personally recommend while waiting for your parts to come. They might solve all your extraction problems anyway.
