10/22 photos - post 'em up here!

I ordered a stock a long time ago and finally decided to at least see what I could do with it. My plans were to build a new 10/22 over time, which I may or may not still do, but I had to see what my Boyd's would look like. It is a Barricuda model. I like the look, though I think a shorter barrel and scope would look better.





 
'bughole tuner' ???

What is that, and how would one do that?

Yes I believe it is , it's actually one of the " dealer " specific 50th anniversary models I got it at hoe sale on the 10th as an early birthday gift to me lol. Took her home mounted some swivel studs, a paracord sling I made and a 3x9 rimfire scope bore sighted it then went out the next day. Took 3 shots to zero and the fourth got the grouse as did the fifth shot. I think I'll keep it unlike the last one I had for 7 years as I've realized you never win when you get rid of a gun.
 
Those are Nodak Spud iron sights. For me they're the Holy Grail of 10-22 sites. I've been trying to buy these sights for years. Previously I was being told they couldn't be exported. I contacted Brownells several weeks back to see if they could be exported now and was pleasantly surprised when they said these were now exportable.

The set of sights were around $150 shipped to me.

I am extremely pleased with these sights.

 
That video makes me want to dig my 10/22 out of the back of the cabinet and start working on it again, which says a lot because I'm fairly bitter about the POS I got.

Then again, doing a ground up custom build would probably be easier/cheaper in the long run than trying to fix the hunk of junk that came out of the Ruger factory.

What issues have you been running into?

The beauty of the 10/22 is so much can be tweaked and changed at home with basic tools.

Thanks! My other 10/22 is a blued model (buried inside of an Archangel Nomad kit) so I figured my second one will be a bit different. Besides, I had the stainless barrel already. I didn’t realize that the Ruger SS was a satin finish, not he polished finished that I had imagined (obviously I didn’t do enough research ahead of time). Last night, I was humming and hawing over whether I should use my black receiver with black trigger group on the green stock or just use all the components from the SS model. I didn’t like the satin finish and grey plastic trigger group, but it’s sort of growing on me? Haha, if I change my mind, I can always swap it out, it’s easy enough.

That’s the great thing about the 10/22, it’s easy to take down and tinker with. The auto bolt release was a very simple mod that can either cost you $15 for a replacement part, or $0 for you to mess around with yourself and get it done. Barrel swaps are fairly simple as well. 10/22, great platform to play with :)
