10/22 photos - post 'em up here!

hey rustspot.. just wondering where you got that whole rail set up and how you attached it to the factory stock? also what kind of iron sights were you using before?

those irons came off of ISSC Mk22 SCAR. they are made pot metal... in other words they were garbage. the rail bolts onto the receiver screws and the front clamp on to the wood stock but needs some careful fitting to make it fits perfectly. i see alot of people did a half ass install where the front bottom real section is not mounted flush to the top and not parallel to the top rail.

What's the average price for some of these rugers plus scope? I was just priced $455 for just a 10/22 with brown/tan laminate stock and a heavy stainless steel barrel, bone stock. That seems... high.

Thegundealer. net has stainless 10/22s on sale for 277$. I'm going to pick 2 of them up as build bases.

Jeeze, I wonder if I should just do that rather than getting the heavy barrel with laminate stock where the only sights options are optics. Then I could just work on upgrades as I go. I'm sure I could get a better stock and barrel for the extra $200.

build

Correct, it is a GM Aero. When I ordered the barrels from GM, they were seconds, couldn't be sold as retail in the US as they are less than 16.5 long, came with several blue, red, black, and plain aluminum solid shrouds, I bought two sets of three. Had them sent to a buddy in the US and picked them up there. The shroud I machined myself, took about 3 hours of mill time. Boyd's Cuda, trigger work by me. I appreciate the kind words, I just wanted something different. I removed .060" from the breech end to make the chamber tighter. So far, it shoots very well, but is unbedded as yet. Very light, almost too light, but will make a wicked gopher killer. Anyone have recommendations for a silver scope? Still need that for the puzzle.

ntm, can you post a pic of the evolution stock with the maurader mag with and without the sleeve? Im curious what it looks like and if you have a tapco, same idea. They all look great.

Diy project

Liked the look of the Thompson. Bought a Ruger compact for this purpose last summer, finally got around to doing the build. Still needs some final finishing but the main part is done. I have an idea on a correct looking, functional drum mag, lots of trial and error or as engineers call R+D. The top is drilled and tapped for a pic rail so I can utilize some kind of optics for the gopher patch.

Wow!! I'm impressed! where did you get all the goodies like the barrels and brakes from, if I may ask?
Very nice!!

Various vendors over the years, some of which no longer ship to Canada... 911 was a terrible event for thousands of people... and for custom gun builders ever since... ITAR really tightened up. The result is many businesses will not jump through the hoops required to export their products... bummer! The brakes are from Ross Schuler in Idaho... barrels are from Dlask and a special Mossberg order (for 10/22's)...

NICE MACHINING!! Looks really good. I'm a bit of an amateur machinist, and I love seeing stuff like this. Good job!
