10/22 photos - post 'em up here!

The highlights are:

-Ruger receiver and bolt
-Ruger trigger group re-worked by a fellow CGNer
-The elusive Boyd's Tacticool stock, scored off the EE
-GM "RFC flaming bomb" barrel, courtesy of Wham-O
-Mueller APV glass

I haven't shot it much yet, just breaking it in at this point. One day I'll really see what it'll do on paper.

Finally I get some pics up of this one:

-Tactical Innovations elite22 receiver and bolt set
-Power Customs extractor
-Dlask charging handle
-Dlask 8" bull barrel
-Houge stock chopped
-Brimstone Tier 1 trigger
-TRS 25 red dot
-AGW linear compensator
-Magpul RVG grip/rail installed (for the drum mag)
-GSG 118 round ;) drum mag <--these things work great!!

This bad boy is 26 1/4" without the compensator

Here's one I almost finished in January, just have to finish the butt plate. I have fired it once at 25 metres and it's shooting in the .1's/5 shots with Center X, have to get out again and set the tuner I've added. Started with a Dlask receiver, 20" Kidd match barrel, all internals are also Kidd, trigger set at 3 oz/3oz. Stock is a Don Stith benchrest, laminated maple and walnut.

I swung by the shop on the way to work, walked out with my own 10/22. Took it out for it's first rounds tonight and it sure does not like the BC mag it came with - it jammed every second round. The 110 round drum worked flawlessly.

Grabbed a rifle-length handguard off EE for my 10/22:

It wasn't a perfect fit so I had to do a little Mcguyvering:

Had to remove some material as well to clear the .920 barrel.

Left all the rails, flashlight and vertical grip off this time. Starting to dig the cleaner look (Yeah, I know, just being in the Archangel stock kit sort of goes against this statement).

Had to remove some material to ensure the barrel was still free floating.

Yeah, it’s awesome to look at, but not ideal for shooting in prone without a monster sandbag. The mag is stupid big, and it doesn’t seat very well, so I’m always having feeding issues. I’ve heard of folks accurately reaching out to 300m with their .22lrs, how realistic is that with the 10/22? I tried it out to 135m this past weekend, but round placement wasn’t consistent and I would only occasionally hit the gong. It was probably user error, but I was told that cheap bulk ammo (Federal blue box and Blazer) won’t produce good groups.

I’ve got a decent barrel on there, so it seems like a bit of a waste not using it to its full potential. Maybe I’ll try different ammo next time and see, but for now, it will plink fairly accurately out to 50m on the cheap stuff. I’m even considering dumping the chassis and throwing it into a more traditional style rifle stock, but we’ll see after I get some better ammo.
