10/22 photos - post 'em up here!

The law states 660mm, so 26" overall length!

Your reply is half right from what I have read/understand from the regs, cutting down a factory barrel makes it prohibited, purchasing a shorter "factory" barrel still keeps it non restricted biding it's at or above the overall length, correct me if I'm wrong but if you want to get into the sbr 10/22 game it's not as simple/inexpensive as some people may think.

It's not simple at all. Think of the NR "mares leg" guns out there. As long as you bolt "factory" parts together you can have a gun shorter than 26" as long as you have cut nothing, barrel or stock, and nothing collapses or folds to get to the short length. It also needs to have a "buttstock" and not just a pistol grip or it becomes a handgun. I spent a lot of time looking into this and the main problem is that nobody makes a really short "factory" (there is no true definition of that term that I could find) stock that doesn't collapse or fold to be short.

These are not mine but a few I found in my passing on the forum here and online. If they are your 10/22's hope you dont mind but they are pretty cool.

I think we need a build list on the second beauty... wink wink..

It's not mine, but I'm pretty sure I know what went into this because I was considering doing my own clone, but actually went a different direction:

Standard 10/22 carbine
12" Dlask tapered barrel with A2 flash hider
NCStar/VISM/Aim Sports 10/22 quad rail setup
Low profile, custom-made iron sights

You can make a gun shorter with factory parts, but if it is under 26" it must be registered as restricted and is relegated to your residence and ranges. Personally, I would rather have a 26" NR gun than a 20" Restricted gun.

So if what you say is correct, which it isn't, please explain Ranch Hands and Mare's Legs and how they are NON-Restricted. 24" and 25" oal respectively.

Thanks, im in the process of replicating one on a very strict budget, only to challenge myself. No dlask for me, if it works out the way i planned it ill post it here in a couple months, if i dont like the end result i guess the ee she goes lol.

If you want to find logical answers stop looking into the Firearms Act.

The Mare's Leg style of firearm are not semi-auto therefore not as "scary" and IIRC the classification ruling was based on the original platform for the firearm; the non-restricted lever action rifle.

But like I say, if you want a logical fact based reason for anything in the Firearms Act, forget it. You will only get a headache

Sorry, wrongo. They are NR because they do not fit the definition of a "restricted weapon", period. If you could get a "factory" made Mare's Leg stock for a 10/22 with a "factory" short forend to work with a, say, 8" barrel and the oal is less than 26" it would be NR same as the Ranch Hands and Mare's Legs because that too would not fit the definition of a restricted firearm. Not really all that complicated.
Don't take my word for it, do your own research.

Heres mine, might make the handguard shorter. Its a 12,5 barrel with a 3 1/2 inch extention.

Hey I see you have the same mag problem as I'm having. My archangel mags interfere with the mag release on the 10/22. I could grind off the tab on the mag release but is rather not. Is there any modification to the mag I can make so they latch and release properly??

Got my 10/22 sighted in yesterday. Not keen on the plastic finish and sanded down and oiled the stock today.
Next will be some stock spacers and maybe some better iron sights.

Reliable Gun has them in stock, and I think CTCS has them too, not sure who else.

HiCal has them too. Went in and checked one out first hand...they're nice as far as ergonomics are concerned but they skimped on the amount of material used across the magwell IMO. Felt pretty flexy to me, but YMMV.

I'm curious how it shoots, Mister Donut. I'm in the market for a stock and I think I've narrowed it down to either Hogue or the Magpull.

I've got the hogue thumbhole on order. Imagine it should be here early next week. Can give my thoughts at that time if anyone cares. Mine will be matched up with a Dlask 12" .920.
