I can't help but think that the type of ammo I broke my Ruger in with is the only kind I may use if I want the gun to cycle properly. I haven't tried CCI in it yet, maybe I should. I broke it in with the Winchester copper plated (?) hollow points. The ones that come in the 333 and 555 rnd boxes. The stuff I have right now, Winchester M-22, will not work right, Federal is completely useless. Maybe I'll try some Brazer and if that doesn't work better, I'll try CCI.

Is anyone familiar with those bucket o' bullets you can get? I haven't tried those either. What kind of ammo is that in those buckets o bullets?

I usually break in my 10/22's with CCI stingers, then use mini mags...

If you get FTE change the extractor to a VQ....

I have an SR22 and 10/22 and had nothing but problems with both of them last time out. I shot federal, american eagle, blazer, yellow jackets and had FTE or FTF with every mag, I was using a factory 10 round mag. I started using the velocitors, stingers and mini mags, not 1 problem after that. Now I have a shyt load of .22 rounds that won't work with a crap in either rifle that I need to get rid of. I will pay the extra for CCI from now on.

I started with the rem golden bullets, they are now the only thing that cycles reliably through my gun.

Come again?

Stingers are higher velocity and mini mags seem to be magic ammo that works in anything
The volquartsen is a extremely well made extractor and the newer 10/22's are famous for crappy extractors so people switch them out for these, myself included.

I think you can get remington golden bullits, in a bucket ,( they are the only ones that work for me) . And I'm not sure but yo May be able to get remington thunderbolts in a bucket, I'm not sure what the diff is,but only the golden bullits work for me.

Well I have had some failure to extracts but failure to ejects are more common to me. Especially failure to feeds. How much and where do I get a VQ?

Milarm in edmonton and Sylvestre Source for Sports in bonneyville are the only two volquartsen dealers (they both ship)

So far I have found I have a choice between federal champion or remington bucket of bullets because that is all anyone has in stock anwhere in GP and you can buy 2 boxes max :)

My 10/22 has for the most part shot both pretty good a few problems that I am 99.5% sure are butler creek magazine related. I have had zero problems of any kind using the 10 round ruger magazine. I have had zero failure to fires at all in almost 1000 rounds fired and basically the only problems is with ejection where the spent casing is being kept from ejecting properly by the butler creek mag somehow and so the bolt is coming forward with the spent casing and hitting it into the next round. A problem I never had from the 10 round stock magazine. I just got a couple tactical innovations TI25 magazines in the mail today I will give them a try on the weekend they do look like they seat the rounds different and its adjustable so hopefully they will work better then the butler creek steel lips.

The bucket of bullets are 36g copper plated remington golden bullets they shoot great for me along with the federal champions but those are the only .22 I have seen in stock anywhere

Here are links to the bullets I have shot so far. I am happy so far with 1000 rounds fired

I bought a used 10/22 and figured it was used too hard or something because I was getting stove pipes with American eagle

I want to make the gun shoot anything without this issue.

Guess ordering the VQ extractor would be a good start. Any other suggestions?

well I fired 700 rds of mixed 22LR, M22, T22, Federal, CCI Blazer and never skipped a beat ( Lead RN, Lead HP, Copper washed, 40grn, 38 grn etc ). Some of this ammo the lead was turning white, yet never had a issue till 650ish mark and that was maybe 1 jam out of 4 mags after that number.

Then again I'm using a mid 80s 10/22 carbine barrel ( I bought with 500rds thru it ), a Stainless receiver/bolt/trigger mech from the early 90s ( that was pretty much NIB ) Stock internals minus the auto bolt and upgraded extractor. With 4 brand new out of package BC steel lips.

Mine is 4 years old, had problems with first 2 mags, they were fed bulk, but after that it shoots everything I have tried. I stripped and clean when I bought it, and after initial problem, but worked fine since. good luck

mine is brand new. it's a jamomatic

it's at the Ruger repair center for the second time now. it double fires, fires out of battery, FTF, FTE, double feeds, stovepipes.....blew up in my face....

it's a real POS. Snap Shots can't figure out what's wrong with it. Ruger won't replace or refund it
