I'm not crazy about the 10/22, its not the first rimfire I usually grab when I want to go plink. However, it is a pretty versatile platform for customizing and I have a few for that. I have one of the Canadian Thompson kits on one, and another I turned into my interpretation of an M1 carbine.

I want to make a 10/22 clone of an M3A1 Grease Gun, so can anybody correct me if I'm wrong on these points?

1)If its to have a short barrel (say 10") it has to be manufactured at that length

2)Overall minimum length has to be 26"

3)Serial number should be visible

If I build it using a registered rifle and it meets the above criteria, it remains non-restricted, correct? Have I missed anything?

Ha ha, I have nothing new so I keep recycling my pics/material! Just welded on the trigger guard, working on the linkage to tie the triggers together (yes that's right). 10/22 trigger is too far forward so need to link up to reach kit's grip. Also need to finish the trigger housing and "magwell", and figure out a stop for the retractable stock. Other than that, the grease gun is almost finished! Will post pics when its done, in the meantime, here's a sneak peek of the receiver dust cover I scratch built.

Ruger should produce rifles like these.
If the SR-22 is popular, then these would be too.
At least with me.
I'd buy one. Anyone else?
Or would it be cost prohibited?
 
The greaser looks good! (of what I can see! :p )
Now I see what you mean about "linking the triggers together"
The M3A1 has a rear trigger and a forward mag well. That could be tricky considering the 10/22 has a mag well that is in close proximity to the trigger group.

Thank you for correcting me, in my original post I called it an M1A1 :redface:.

It shouldn't be too hard, since a grease gun has a fairly large housing I can hide the ruger trigger in. Unfortunately, I seem to be having a hard time making it work. The good thing is, it doesn't have to be 100% correct, most people will think its an uzi anyway!:D
 
Hope you're not too disappointed with the end result, its pretty crude. I'm not much of a welder and my sheetmetal-shaping skills start and end with a pair of snips and a ball peen hammer!

This is just the prototype: if it all comes together and works properly, I may try to refine it a bit in the future.

Going to attack this trigger problem and get it sorted tonight. Then all that's left is the stock.
