Im re using a post i had on here earlier to save space.

Hey Guys
I got my 10/22 done now
On it are Kwik site see through mounts
Williams tru glo sites.
Bushnell 3-9x40 banner
Volsquarten Hammer
Volsquarten Sear
Volsquarten spring kit
Volsquarten extractor
Bolt buffer
A few other things i think I didnt do the internals. I bought it that way.
It also came with the scope so all i had to add was the sights and mounts.
Just a note on the mounts. Since ive got willams sights that are quite high I had to shim the inside of the rings so i could get a slightly better sight picture. Well this is about all im planning to do to it. Except mabey get some more BC Steel lips mags.
Will keep it as is as a wicked sporter plinker

If anyone has a mag or two they want to trade ive got a one piece scope mount.

I was thinking about upgrading the barrel but ive already got a tack driver.
My marlin 795 with bushnell 4-12 banner. I dont think accuracy comes much better for less than 200 bucks.

I bought a 10/22 recently and damn Am i enjoying this gun. Thanks PC9.
Just an observation, really heavy action for a 22 compared to other semis.
I suppose thats why it never stops going. I bought a williams firesight set up and am surprised to see the wedge on the back site is really dropping from shooting a lot. I suppose a really good scope mount is in order to stop the creep. When i got the gun It had a buffer installed so im thankful of that. Im tempted to put all the original parts back in and see how it preforms. Not sure if you guys do this but my secret weapon to stop sight and scope creep is black hockey tape.

Not too upset about the accuracy but agree with others it could be better.
Instead of buying a new barrel have any of you had a recrown done?
How did it preform after?

Also I seem to be having some problems cycling Hollow points is this common?
What bulk box type ammo seems to preform best for you?

Im almost done gettin all my goodies for it. Im waiting on a set of see through mounts from SIR. I will probably post a pic soon when ive got everything for it.
Thanks
Ianc

Get "see-though" scope rings...I've got'em on my 10 22, and I like 'em. I bought mine at wholesale sports. Most bigger gun places should carry them. Check with Wholesale. If you can't find any, I'll look at mine to see what brand they are.

If you want to mount a scope, I would suggest a power custom scope base, Its a sloted base, for weaver mounts... no creep(iron sights would be unusable). I feed my 10/22 winchester power points, its a 40 grain hollow point... and have never had a problem. Also I don't recall a problem with any other ammo either. Although I did do some polishing on the bolt, it had a few burrs that would of chewed into the aluminum reciver If I had not fixed it. But im running a heavy barrel (green mountain 18") In a opend up wood stock.

The accuracy issue with the stock 1022 barrel comes from its commercial chamber and long, slender barrel profile. The chamber is sloppy compared to a "bentz-type". And the slender barrel heats up quickly under sustained rapid fire; causing the poi to move. Add in the lack of bedding, heavy "litigation proof" trigger and barrel band and you have a recipe for mediocrity.

Rather than recrowning, you can improve accuracy dramtically by:

1. installing a target hammer/trigger from Volquartzan (biggest bang for the buck)
2. free float and bed the stock barrel or
3. add a heavy target barrel and bed the new stock.

After that, the tweaks get more expensive and accuracy gains are more incremental. For example, a heavy weaver base, Burris Signature Zee rings, bolt buffer, match-extractor, automatic bolt release, extended mag release camfered and jeweled bolt etc.

As for hollow-points, my 1022 loved the Dynapoints, but hates the Federal's. It never fed Stingers well, and with a bentz chamber wont feed Stingers at all.

Skeetgunner,
Thanks for the info regarding the barrel inaccuracy. regardless i will still do a barrel re crown on it at some point.
So far ive got some volquarsten parts in it
Hammer, sear bolt buffer, extractor. Not really sure if the trigger is
worth it since ive already got those parts i mentioned. Although i will probably pick one up at some point.
I do want to look into beading as well. Im a real tinkerer so that would be right up my alley
Funny that you mentioned it but it was a federal that jammed. Also had a remington HP jam up as well.

I have never been impressed by the standard stock accuracy of the 10/22 until I shot one of the Sporter models that has a 20" barrel.
Aparently Ruger has imported new barrel hammer presses from Germany or Austria and the new barrels are outstanding. I shot 5 shot all holes touching at 50 yds using Winchester Dynapoints.

Honstly can not complain about my 10/22's accuracy.
I have never tweaked her in anyway.
It's just the standerd model but she's accurate. Gopher won't know the difference if I shoot it 2mm to the left of where I aimed
