ive seen some 10/22's with a box mag. and some which have a rotary mag. are these interchangeable or can a rifle with a rotary mag take a box mag? just looking for clarification.

The stock mag on the 10/22 is a box shaped but a rotary mag. You can get the tear drop design or the long banana style mags for it as well which hold 25-50 rounds...

Its all in the design of the mag, as long as it clips into the gun securely, it could have a monkey inside feeding rounds into the receiver... (hmm patent pending?)

some are better than others... surf around this sub-forum.

BC Steel lips are my fave. I would like some Tac Inc but they are unobtanium at the moment.

so i take it that the rotary mags are interchangeable with the stick/box mags and are not an intergrated internal mag?

thanks for the great replys.

There is no internal magazine on the 10/22.

10 round mags are usually rotary to make them compact. Higher capacity ones are banana style, the 50 round drum ones are a giant rotary magazine due to the fact that a banana style 50 rounder would not work very well.

If there is a magazine for a 10/22 and you have a 10/22 there is a good chance it will work. Some won't work reliably and will fail to feed or have ejection problems. That is why the Tactical Inc ones are nice cause you can adjust them for 100% reliability.

*Note that the box shape at the top of the aftermarkets is the same as the stock 10 rounder. The stock magazine is flush, and the top box part of the aftermarket is flush and extends downward.
Stock is rotary, 25rounder is a straight feed, and the 50 rounder is some frankenstein.

some of the 25 round ones hold 26 but you have to hold the bolt open to load it..
