Hey guys,

I'm looking into a 10/22, and have a few questions for those in the know.

Where can a guy buy a pink stock, either the normal style or tapco one?

Also with all these "Drop in" barrels, do you need a smith to intall them or is it really a bolt on type thing a mechanically inclined type can do at home?

Is there any point of a heavy barrel if that is the first mod? accuracy wise?

Can the carbines be modded the same as the rest of them?

I have two options in mind, a pink 10/22 for my girls since they want to start shooting in the spring, or a heavy barrel type done up one for me since I can.

the barrel swap is simple, there are 2 allen head bolt holding the v-block in place. unscrew them, remove v-block, pull old barrel out and slide new one in, replace v-block and bolts. Done! your old barrel may be a tight fit. the bone stock 10/22 carbine will shoot pretty good with the right ammo, and heavy barrels retain accuracy as they heat up. a good aftermarket barrel is always a good thing over stock, but not necessary unless youre after maximum accuracy or retaining accuracy during high volume shooting
 
dell selins guns (a dealer on here) has two pink 10/22's in stock, one is a painted factory stock with hi-end automotive gloss paint and the other is a factory laminated stock
 
I think Tapco made a pink one, but I believe it was a limited run. Your best bet may be to buy one and paint it yourself.

When I called to ask about grips I was pleasantly surprised, the girl on the phone was incredibly nice and even picked a SIG frame off the assy. line to compare with 2 different black grips to see which was a better match to the factory finish for me. There is no tax and she said they absolutely ship to Canada np
 
Most of the aftermarket heavy barrels provide much better accuracy than the factory one. The stock barrel that came with mine was only good for 2"-2.5" groups at 50 yards. My 18" Green Mountain .920" barrel is good for dime-sized groups at the same distance with ammo it likes.

Barrel heat isn't really a problem with a .22 rimfire, but I find the stock barrel to feel a bit "whippy" for offhand shooting. I find the heavy barrels to "hang" nicer, even if they can be a bit on the heavy side.

My ideal barrel would be some sort of medium contour between the factory lightweight and the .920" bull barrels.
