10/22 receiver finish- opinions?

I'm resurrecting a poor neglected 10/22, according to the ser#, made in '68 and ridden pretty hard. Bead blasted the receiver to get the crappy finish off, and polished it. While I was jeweling the bolt, I tried this just for kicks:

It's different that's for sure. Can't really tell from the pics, but it looks kinda three dimensional- metal mother of pearl kind of effect. So is it worth keeping, or back to polished?

That actually looks cool in a way, but the flash from the camera takes away from the picture.

If you can take one without the flash I think that would allow us to appreciate it more.

Also, post at rimfirecentral, I think the 10/22 nutz there will like it too.
 
Anyone ever use ceramic coating like they do for exhaust and turbo manifolds? I guess it would depend if the shop will do a firearms receiver or not.
