10/22 Ruger Competition Model 31127

No idea about the wait time, but as far as ammo goes, I'd get an assortment of ammo and try it. 22 rifles are very much individual when it comes to ammo - 2 identical guns will shoot the same ammo very differently. Also, it depends on what you're doing, if you trying to find an accurate plinker, cost becomes an issue. 22 target ammo ranges from 6 to 30 dollars a box (50). Also, with current shortages, start buying early. Once you find something that shoots well, make note of the lot number - rimfire varies by lot so find and buy as much as you can of any lot that shoots well.

So I just ordered the Ruger Competition model 31127. Its on back order, how long do you think I have to wait?

Whats the best type of ammo for this rifle?

For plinking, I'd start with CCI Standard Velocity which should give you decent accuracy, e.g. less than 1" groups at 50y. For competition, buy a few sampler packs from Eley, SK, etc. Tesro is a good place for them. You should be able to find at least one product that gives you around 0.5" at 50y. Good luck and happy shooting.

Wishing you good luck w yours. I have one coming in hopefully next week. Scope ready, ammo ready; now If I can get a low wind day, the testing will start.

The backorder will likely last several weeks. The distributor is waiting for their delivery from Ruger and have none in stock currently. The go to ammo is CCI SV, SK Standard and SK Rifle Match.

Im suprised with the ammo recomendations. I thought ur shoots were sponsored by Eley, just assumed youd be pushing their beeswax ammo. Maybe theyve dropped out or not, I know all their ammo is not lubed the same. Just wondering if there will be any more classes being introduced and if we could possibly register for shoots any farther away such as 2022. The way things are going i dont really think registering for shoots this far in advance are realistic or feasible. How can someone take money for shoots that have a high probability of not coming too fruition due to the present circumstances. As far as Ive seen there is no sign that this is going too subside in the near future.Hopefully Im wrong. I personally wont be signing up or paying for shoots well in advance of the current situation.

I will shoot whatever ammo you or anyone else gives me. There are lots of ELEY ammo options, from “meh” to “going to the Olympics!” I have tried the basic ones, will use them up on another rifle for ammo testing.
Maybe we will get a refund if they cancel. Maybe not. It’s $50. As it sits my Ruger Competition setup is $2K without the bipod. It has eaten 2500+ rnds in a week and a half. I’m living now. 2022 is a long way off.

Well I wont be giving you any ammo, so one thing solved. To some people $50 isnt a big deal and apparently your one of them. Im happy for you! The $50 isnt a big deal too me either. Im just not going to pay for anything that theres no guarantee is going to happen. Wow 2K on a Ruger, you really dont care about money. As it sits, one of my competition setup has a scope worth more than double ur gun with the bipod. I dont think anyone really cares about ur gun or mine. Its not a pissing contest.
