Me and my son love to hit the range he is wanting a new scope and I'm happy to accomidate as its always fun target shooting with him. Any recomadatios on a scope? looking for good cheap scope for him to start off under 100$.

Any assistance would be appreciated...

Happy shooting...

well, under $100 limits your options to a simple rimfire scope from Bushnell, if you want something to let you reach out to 50 - 100 yards. if your shooting is going to be close and you want a tactical feel, get a red dot or reflex sight. :)

The rimfire scopes usually have the parallax set at 50 yds.

It really depends on the range you'll be doing most of your shooting at.

I don't mind a rimfire scope, I just get used to it at ranges out to 100 yds. or more as well.

My daughter bought a Pursuit rim fire scope from Bass Pro for my BD. She even helped to sight it in. There is more expensive glass available but for target practice its good enough for us.

Thanks everyone for your help. I'm going to look into a few of them. Scope is his first so I want to get cheap before I drop more on it. Appreciate all your feedback.

Happy shooting....keep them tight and on target

I've got a 2.5-10x42 Tasco Varmint on mine. It's surprisingly bright and works well...I use it out to 100+ yards no problem. Has a Mil-Dot reticle which is incredibly handy for the inevitable hold-overs you gotta do with a .22. It also has an adjustable objective...I think it does 10 yards to infinity.

I had an el cheapo $45 scope on my 10/22 when I purchased it. It was equipped with mount rings that clamped the narrow ( I think 3/8") groove of the mounting rail. I could never get used to the lousy optics of this scope which seemed too dark and blurry for my eye sight. I was also turned off by the accuracy or lack of it with my 10/22. This was my first 10/22 although I have been shooting for decades my previous .22 was a bolt action and was very accurate.

I ended up buying a Bushnell Banner 4X12X40 at Walmart for $114 and mounted it on Weaver medium height rings. The accuracy improved dramatically and the optics were great being bright and clear.

X2 on the Tasco 2.5 - 10x X 42. It is a larger scope but works well. This is a great scope for going to the gun range.

If the gun is going to be used for hunting there are better scopes.

The other scope I have put on hunting rim fire rifles is the 1.5 to 4x X 20 variable.

One of the issues with putting a rifle scope on a 22 is that at 25 metres there can be up to an inch of parallax.

Fitco has very inexpensive scopes....

thank you all gun nutz, i ended up going with Bushnell 3X9X40 for 79.99. will let ya know how it functions on range..

much appreciated all your suggestions.
