Had to take the safety out of the trigger guard for bead blasting on project "10/22, Back from the brink" Well guess what happened... Yep, a slip and the little safety thingy went in to orbit, never to be seen again. Where's the best place to get a new thingy and spring, and what's the trick to put it back together?

Get the spring back into its hole with the detent plunger on top. Start the safety into its hole, use a small tool to compress the plunger into its hole, slide the safety over, rotate to proper position. No secret, but if you slip..... I've bought the parts from Brownells (for the same reason that you need them). The Ruger service centre for Canada is in Quebec, search here and you might find the contact information.

And next time you take apart a thingie with a spring...or even without, any small parts, get a large, clear plastic bag and do all your assembly/dissasembly in the bag. Saved untold hours of time looking, and untold hours looking for money to replace those tiny, very expensive, thingies. Just make sure the bag is big enough to get both hands in and move a bit.

Location Snap Shot in Quebec is the Ruger Canadian factory repair center...my ONE experience with them has been painfully slow although others seem to have had good luck. Maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones. Telephone is (450) 427-0052, and their email is snapshots@videotron.ca

Good luck.
