10/22 Scope

Is that with high velocity?,I was using Remington thunder bolts.
I forgot to mention zero was at 150m with a 2 1/2 inch group.
I still have the mount,I post picture this weekend.I could use
my iron sights under the mount for 100m and under.

That's outstanding shooting at 150m. I find I get some serious deterioration in accuracy beyond 100 yards. The say half inch I get at 50 yards doesn't translate into 1 inch at 100 by any means. I consider it lucky if I hit one of those pop up circle targets half the time at 100 yards. I did manage to hit a couple of grouse in the neck at 80 yards though.

It is a 1935 mossberg mb42,I removed the front part of the forestock,
and sanded the stock up to the receiver.I can slide a piece of paper
under the whole barrel,I'm not sure this made much of a difference for
a 22,but I thought every little thing I do can help.It took me awhile
to find the right ammo.I even tried target grade, nope, the barrel is in
great shape.

The other thing to consider at extreme ranges with a .22 is that they run out of steam to make humane kills - even on vermin. You would be better off using a small 22 centrefire(hornet,222 etc).

I fully understand what you mean,It was a test I tried a few times
when I first made my scope mount. This is not my norm for shooting,
but for targets,I enjoy the challenge at long range with my 22 and
stay 200 and under for ground hogs.

I shoot some very accurate target rifles at long range, just to see what happens. Turns out, even at 200 yards, some impressive groups are possible. However, with standard velocity ammo, there is more than 45 inches of elevation required between 100 & 200 yards, so 300 would require huge elevation figures. A tapered base would be an absolute necessity with most optics I can think of. That being said, if one intends to shoot targets only, optics should be great quality and powerful. [My Suhl and my 40X have 36X Leupolds on them, my Anschutz, a 24X] For small game and targets, you may want to tone down a bit. I think a 3.5 - 10 or maybe a 4.5 - 14 might do. Personal choice for a "good" accurate 22 would be a 6.5 - 20EFR. Also, find out which true "target" ammo your rimfire likes, and lay in a case or two. Regards, Eagleye.

The reason I made my own mount is,the original mount is for a 3/4
tube,I wanted a 1" tube.My scope did look like a funny car on top.
I had a fair amount of slope.I was aiming for the envelope of my
rifle to understand it better and it's ability's.But I am looking for
a nice 50mm size with adjustable cams for 22,I was looking at
leopolds, but they are in the 800$ range and up.

Just listed in the EE is a Burris 6.5-20 Tact that looks like a good optic. I have no vested interest here and know nothing of the model. Burris does make some good optics however. And the $ is attractive !

tasco target/varmit 2.5-10x42ao is what i have on my 10/22target. i love it! best 90 bucks ive spent. clear optics, mill dot rectical. target turrets. i shoot a 1" 3 shot group @ 100 yards and a 3.5" 3 shot group @ 200yds. ive made shots on gophers at over 200 yrds. if i see it, i can hit it!
