Once again I seem to have more 10/22's than I really need. I intend to take these two rifles, neither of which I can remember shooting in a long time, (maybe last year?) and shooting them side by side to determine which will stay and which will go. Kind of a survival of the fittest shoot-out challenge. This whole idea came about because I have someone interested in buying the Volquartsen (VQ) take down (TD) barrel. So the question is should I sell the TD barrel or the Dlask/kidd barrelled action ?
Here are the contenders:
Top:
Ruger TD receiver
VQ 16.5" carbon fibre TD barrel c/w scope rail
Magpul Hunter X-22 TD stock
Kidd silver single stage trigger
Kidd black bolt
Kidd charging handle, charging rod and spring
Simmons 3-9x32 22 mag scope c/w Warne rings
Weight: 2.88 Kg
This rifle, as shown, is one of several TD combinations I have. There is an in depth thread here for anyone who is interested: https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1501263-Ruger-10-22-Takedown-Build-Thread
Bottom:
Dlask receiver
Kidd 10" Charger stainless steel bull barrel
Magpul Hunter X-22 stock (shortened)
Kidd black single stage trigger
Kidd matt silver bolt
Power Custom charging handle, charging rod and spring
Bushnell 6-8x40 Rimfire scope c/w Warne QR rings
Weight: 3.23 Kg
This rifle was assembled from 100% used parts. Either used items bought on the EE or items I had laying around.
Both rifles are freshly cleaned and lightly lubed. I intend to compare reliability and accuracy of the 2 setups. If I think it is necessary, I may switch the higher magnification Bushnell scope onto the TD rifle after testing it on the Dlask rifle.
I'm thinking I will use 3 types of ammo: American Eagle 40 grain (my go to cheap plinking ammo), CCI Standard Velocity (my go to for inexpensive target shooting) and SK Rifle Match (my go to moderately priced precision target ammo). 25 and 50 yard groups of each ammo type will be compared.
I will post the results once I get a chance to go to the range. Now I just need the weather to cooperate (currently wet snow/rain/fog).
Cheers
