Tested out my 10/22 takedown model today, and had about a 25% failure rate with the following symptoms:

Bolt fails to move fully into battery, firing pin fails to strike primer, fails to extract.

I ended up having to push on the charging handle before each shot to ensure that the bolt is fully in battery.

Ammo is standard Federal 36 grain hp.

Is there a known cause for this problem?

I took my bolt out and polished it. I also cleaned up the inside of the receiver and gave it a bit of a polish too. The difference between a new bolt and the bolt in my 15 year old 1022 are shocking. Tool marks, poor machining. They just don't make 'em like they used to.

It runs much better now. I'm just having feeding problems now with most of my new Steel Lips mags. My old ones are all ok.
