Recently purchased a 1022 takedown. It has a stubborn little muzzle brake on the end of it and it doesn’t seem to want to budge. Anybody get one off before? R they pinned?

Looked at a few forum discussions of this same thing from over the years thanks to a quick Google search. Seems one guy had one on so tight that Ruger support agreed he had tried everything and needed to send it to them for removal. He got it back, brake removed, and was happy. Otherwise folks seem to report anything from finger tight to needing a large Torx bit or box wrench to remove it with a lot of force and the barrel held in wooden vise blocks. Steady firm pressure should get it off. If not, maybe contact Ruger.

Contacted the guy I bought it from and he said he had had it off, and had tightened the hell out of it using a Allen key with a 12 inch pipe on it. Donno why he’d want it so tight but I did put the brake in a vice and put ALOT of twist force into the gun... it broke loose. So problem solved,
