10/22 takedown scope

Any advice which scope to mount on my 10/22 takedown to still fit it in the bag?
Under $ 300 and min 4x.........

I kicked around the idea of getting a Leapers for a bit as they are quite a bit shorter and should fit in the bag but I am not too sure they are the best of quality. I have since bought a lazermax from a fellow CGNer and have not looked back. From what I remember the leapers can be had for around $100 if you want to check them out.

I just went through the same adventure. You can read about in in the Optics section of the forum.

Short answer - if you're going cheap and don't mind a thick reticle, the UTG or Leapers Bug buster is OK.

I'm fussy, so I ponied up for a Leupold VX-1 Rimfire 2-7x28mm. It fits the bag and is VERY nice.

Ever consider a red dot such as a Burris Fast-Fire or a Vortex Sparc?

That's a good point... I assumed that since the OP said scope, he wanted something with magnification. But yes,if no magnification is required, then a RDS is a good solution. Mine started with my Vortex Strikefire:

Thanks! I mentioned "min 4x" and meant magnification.
Will check into the options mentioned. I read somewhere the scope must be shorter then 11 inch to fit in the bag........

I have 3 10/22 takedowns (for my sons) and one has a Bushnell Trophy XLT 1.75-4 x32 with a circle-x reticle (~$160 new with Butler Creek flip-ups included). I have better glass/ better reticle on the other 2 but with this one the optimal eye relief is when the objective is flush with the receiver when taken down. So ultra-compact and fits in the bag.
