Hey guys,

Just wondering if any of you have purchased the stainless takedown hex screw that "thevolvoguy" on here out of MB has been manufacturing. Do you know if it will fit a regular wood stock carbine and be flush? I ask cause the stock screw is countersunk into a brass inlet in the stock. How does it compare to other aftermarket brands?

Is he 'manufacturing' them? Or is he simply charging $5 a pop for a standard thread pitch steel bolt that could be sourced for about $.50?

Completely flush? No. They're a little bit proud.
For $10shipped I got 2, cheaper than going to town to get one.

That is just a hardware store bolt. A 10/22 TD screw looks like this:

Volquartsen ($4.99 USD from Brownells)

Dlask ($5)

Note the non threaded portion that allows the TD screw to be retained loosely in the stock (by the escutcheon) when the action is removed. I think the full length thread could make it harder to achieve the proper torque settings (if you are concerned about that) although I have not used that type of bolt, so I am only speculating.
